God will come to you
By Robert H. Schuller
During the first World War, a soldier in the trenches saw his friend out in no-man's land - that ground between his trench and the trench of the enemy. His friend lay there wounded.
The man asked his officer, "May I go, sir and bring him in?" The officer refused saying, "No one can live out there, and if you go I will only lose you as well."
Disobeying the officer, the man went to save his friend, for they had been like brothers throughout the war. Somehow, he managed to get his friend on his shoulder, stagger back to his trench, only to fall mortally wounded with his friend.
The officer was angry, "I told you not to go. Now I have lost two good men. It was not worth it!" With his dying breath the man said, "But it was worth it, sir, because when I got to him he said, 'Jim, I knew you'd come.'"
The distinct message of the cross of Jesus Christ is this: God will come to you when you cry out to Him, even to the point of giving His life to prove His faithfulness to you.
